I started my college journey nervous and uncertain about how I'd manage the transition from high school to college. By the end of my first semester, I made the Dean's List and was invited to the Bridge to Success Honors Ceremony in the Spring.  I then applied to work on campus at the Miron Student Center and have been happy about my decisions since. One of the biggest challenges I faced as a freshman was finding ways to get more involved on campus, especially as a commuter. Working at the MSC has been huge in my professional development and has given me opportunities to grow and make connections with my peers and fellow staff on campus. The Bridge to Success program has assisted me with my challenges as well when it came to discovering my strengths as a student, scheduling my classes, networking, building great connections with my counselor, and the supporting staff around me. As I get ready to graduate this year, I look forward to applying the knowledge and skills I’ve gained during my college journey to make a meaningful impact in my career and personal life.

My journey at Kean began in the Fall of 2020. Because my freshman year started virtually, it wasn’t the introduction to college I expected. Being a college student can be a challenge, and Covid added to these challenges. But one thing I knew then, and I know now, is that I can count on the support of the BTS family. I am proud to have been part of the BTS Honors Ceremony each of my semesters at Kean. Whether it was my first ceremony, which took place on a Zoom call, or my most recent in-person ceremony with the BTS staff, my fellow classmates, and my family, the recognition was always special. Looking back, I can see how much I have grown since starting college at Kean. The knowledge I gained, and the critical thinking skills I developed will be invaluable. As I finish my journey at Kean, and prepare for graduation, I am truly honored to have been selected as a Senior Spotlight recipient.
